Birthday boy and more

Today is our boy's 5th birthday!  We are going to have a 'whale' of a time tonight.....since he wanted a whale cake this year.  (Hope to post pics later)  I will be so glad when we finally move and unpack all my cake supplies!  I'm itching to do a big cake again!!  We spent the most part of our day at the Creation Museum and our boy got to pick out a present there.....of course he got a stuffed dinosaur *grin*.  I was also able to pick up the brand new American History curriculum that just came out by Debbie Lawrence "America from the beginning".  It is all biblically based with verses and God's hand woven all throughout the pages of history we will be learning.  Oh, and did I mention the curriculum costs $60 but with hubby's staff discount I paid $19.99!!!!!!!!   Have I said how much I love hubby's job *big grin*
In other news, all the kids but 1 (so far) have a cold.  We've been drinking the elderberry syrup hoping to nip it in the bud.  I've also got a new project going.  We are making lip balm from scratch!  The first batch turned out quite nice (peppermint this time round) made from beeswax, coconut oil, jojoba oil and vitamin E.  It made 10 tubes.  Next batch I'm going to try the sweet almond oil and lanolin.  I'll be trying out several recipes to find which one I like best.  Then we'll be experimenting with the many yummy flavors out there!!  It may be something we will look into selling.

Well....off to decorate a cake!

Home going

Our dear friend has gone home to be with the Lord this morning. We called his room on Wednesday and the nurse put the speaker phone on and our daughter was able to talk to him.  All he could do was respond with 'noise' of acknowledgement since his speech was gone.  We called hospice this morning to check on him and we were told to call the family.  I was able to speak with his son and I explained to him who we were (since we didn't know the son personally).  I told him he may have seen a picture of a young girl he carried with him.  He started to break down in tears and said that her picture is going to be placed in his casket.  She was a loved girl!!
I am so thankful that although we can grieve his departure here on earth, we have the hope that we will see him again one day.  He will be missed!!

Rolling over

4 1/2 months old

To update about our dear friend down south....we got a call that he was moved to the hospital and is now in hospice care.  He isn't talking anymore but they said we can call and they will put the phone up to his ear to listen (he was in a deep sleep when we called).  I don't think it will be too much longer....but as we told him a few weeks ago, we will see him again in glory one day!
Our oldest brought him an updated picture of herself for him to have at the nursing home a few weeks back, and we were told it was in his room at the hospital as well....he kept a picture of her in his kitchen for years....so sweet :)

Anniversary

With all the busyness over the past while, I didn't even get the chance to post about our anniversary.  Really, there isn't much to post about because it was spent cleaning up after our hot water heater flood!!  We had to repackage many boxes that had water damage....so our 14th anniversary didn't have a whole lot of 'celebrating'.

It didn't go by, however, unnoticed completely.  Hubby and I reflected back over the years and reminisced about how we met and our 'dates' (the few times we were actually together since he lived in the States and I was in Canada!!).  I realize with each passing year just how special my husband is.  I cherish our close, loving relationship that God has blessed us with.  My hubby still loves to hold my hand, opens doors for me, tells me how beautiful I am (despite the years of changes that have come with childbirth!!).  He makes me feel so very loved and secure.  I could get all mushy but I'll save you from hearing that *grin*.  I am a very blessed woman!  I pray God will bless us with many, many more years ahead with one another because life with my man is a wonderful adventure!!
