Little no more....

Our little chicks are no longer little!!! We have 6 full grown hens, so now we await the first egg :) Hubby has expanded their living quarters so they now have free access to roam the woods behind the house. Last night when we checked to see if they had all gotten into the 'housing' for the night, we discovered 3 up high in a tree!!

Dino cake

Someone at church saw the dinosaur cake I did for our 3 yr old and wanted one for his grandsons. I used cupcakes under the volcano this time (I had used a papertowel roll for our boy).....that way, almost the entire cake was edible - minus the dinos and trees. This pic was taken before the cherry pie filling lava was added :) I hope the boys liked their cake!!

Cake order

I have a cake order for tomorrow. This was fun. I had free reign to do whatever I wanted :)
I made buttercream and chocolate fondant roses (fonderific).....yum!! I did a basketweave around the outside and a rope-like border on top and bottom. I love the results! Hope they like it.

Cowpens battlefield

Last week when we went to hubby's throat appointment (surgery is in July), we took a detour on the way home and visited the Cowpens battlefield - field trip!!! This was very appropriate as we had just finished reading about it in history. I'd love to go visit when they do the reenactment of it! I didn't have my camera with me, but we used the phone camera to capture a few pics of the afternoon.

Drawing fun

After supper, we all gather round for art class (yep, mommy and daddy too). We are going through Mark Kistler's drawing course. We are having a ball (literally!) The first 3 lessons have been on spheres, shadowing, depth....etc. That's right! After 3 lessons this is what we are drawing!! So much fun....

Not quite...but close

I love to hear the kids sing hymns around the house but sometimes their version is just a little off. Here are some examples...

(our 5 year old...singing at the top of his lungs) "ugly sunlight, ugly sunlight"
(me) Not quite....that would be "Heavenly sunlight, heavenly sunlight"

(our 5 year old asking mommy) What does it mean "he punched me to victory"
(me) I don't know, what do you mean?
(our 5 year old sings) "he punched me to victory beneath the cleansing flood"
(me) Not quite....that would be "He plunged me to victory"

(our 3 year old singing) "Raisins, raisins, all ye little children"
(me) Not quite...that would be "Praise Him, Praise Him, all ye little children"

Sweet sounds to my ear even if it is not quite...but close!

Piano

I love when I get those spare moments to steal away to the piano and play. That is how I personally love to worship my Lord, through music. I find such joy in playing songs for Him. Some of my recent favorites are by the Getty's.
