chop chop
So I figured since I was born from a hairdresser, I should possess some hairdressing skills right? As I have said time and time again, our daughter longs for long hair but it is sooooo thin, it breaks easy and looks awful as it gets longer. I have cut it several times and even tried a bit of layering in the past but this time......I was going all out and just going to go for it!!! I am going to completely layer her hair and get rid of all these broken and awful looking ends. So I start cutting.
After the first cut my initial thought was "what in the world are you doing! Who are you kidding!!". Can't stop now though. So I keep cutting....
My daughter continues to have a smile on her face and I smile back -all the while worrying if I have just done something awful! We finish and she is excited for Daddy to come home and show off her new do. I keep my fingers crossed hoping Daddy isn't too shocked *smile*.
Her hair feels so soft now....and bouncy! She keeps running her fingers through her hair (or what's left anyway) I have to say that it doesn't look like a total disaster. Maybe I did inherit a little of my mom's hairdressing blood :)

Dad's update
Dad is doing well. He was actually jogging today!!! He had his first hernia surgery on Thursday and will have the second one done sometime Monday, then head home this Thursday. Please continue to pray for a quick recovery, good healing, and a good day on Monday. With 2 sore areas, he might have a little more difficulty getting around :) We love you Dad!

I'm an American
I am officially an American citizen now :) Yesterday was the oath ceremony and hubby and our girls were able to join me and witness it. Hopefully it is something our 7 year old will be able to remember years from now. Now it is off to get a passport and voter's registration! It was an exciting time and emotional too.
Also, my dad heads off for his pre-op appointment today. He will find out about his surgery tomorrow for hernia repair. We are praying that all will go well and that they will fix both hernias while he is there, not just the one. I know it is an anxious time for him! Love you Dad!
I'm not typing too much today....I woke up with my neck and upper back out of whack. I'm heading to the chiropractor this afternoon....uggh.

Car seats
I found this very interesting! I went and weighed my soon to be 3 year old and he is only 28 lbs. We have turned his current seat back to rear-facing. Yes, his little legs are going to be cramped (the video shows the child's legs bent like an upside down V)...it will be interesting to manuever especially since our son has been used to leg room infront of him, but I see the danger of keeping him forward at this point. Tell me your thoughts. I'll post a picture of our boy later.

God's goodness through neighbors
We went for our evening walk around the block tonight. Half way around, one of our friendly neighbors stopped us and took us through his garden and let the kids pick vegetables to their hearts content!! He let us fill up a bucket of tomatoes, potatoes, cucumbers, cabbage and gave us some beans that have already been picked, cut and frozen. The kids loved it!
Our daughter was baking again today. She made some dark chocolate fudge cake cookies. They are soooo tempting but I'm sticking to my 'diet' of no sugar! (Ok...so I had to try ONE but that was it :)
And here are some more of baby girl. I never get tired of taking their pictures!

She sitteth
Our girl has been sitting by herself for a couple weeks. She has become more stable over the last week, catching herself when she starts to lean :) Hard to believe she is already 7 months now!
In other news, I am finally going to become a citizen!! Next week I will be sworn in. Our oldest will be coming to the ceremony (using it as a homeschool field trip) but I think it is our son who is the most excited. During Wednesday prayer meeting he raised his hand for 'praises' and said "Mommy is becoming American". How sweet :)

Happy Birthday
Today our boy turns 5!!! He is growing up so fast. His party is not until tomorrow but that didn't stop us from celebrating tonight. Not only does our boy like pirates (the theme for tomorrow) but he loves watching Daniel Boone and Davey Crockett. So we thought it quite appropriate to get him a coon-skin cap which he just loves! I loved the expression on his face when he saw it. I asked him the other day how Davey Crockett made his hat and he replied "he caught a raccoon, cut off its butt and put it on his head...." hahahaha I laughed so hard! He also got a watch which will help him as he learns to tell time :) We all enjoyed the store-bought spiderman cupcakes while Mommy is busy making the cake for tomorrow. This was the first 'flop' I've had. What a frustrating day to say the least. The first attempt ended up in the garbage, so I had to readjust my plan of action and the second turned out better. It wasn't exactly what I had planned but our boy loves the look so far. Just a few more details and it will be done. As always, I will post pictures tomorrow of it.....but for now here is some from tonight.

Visit
We had a really nice visit from friends over the weekend. We don't get to see them very often but we keep in contact through facebook and blogging :) All the kids got along so well for meeting each other for the first time. Our daughter has not stopped talking about one friend in particular *grin*. With their 6 kids and our 4, it was lots of fun!
Then today we headed off to the mountains again and enjoyed the drive and nice weather. This time we went to Jump Off Rock where you can see 8 different mountain ranges.
