So the family got together (yes, it was a family affair) and we grabbed 2 cartons of Heavy Whipping cream, divided it between 3 plastic containers, put 2 marbles in each container and started shaking!!!
It was hard work as you can see from our boy's face *grin*
After about 15 mins, we had butter and delicious buttermilk. I'd say it made over 3 cups of buttermilk and over 3 cups of butter.
Our daughter used the buttermilk to make buttermilk biscuits from scratch and our son made us some cinnamon butter.
Looks delicious!!!!! I cannot believe it was that easy!!!
ReplyDeleteThat does look very good! I loved the picture of the kids making the butter. I couldn't help but chuckle at the look on our boy's face.
ReplyDeleteWe are so going to have to try that...assuming the expire for the butter would be the same of that on the carton of whipping cream???Also does it need refrigeration then as typically we keep butter in the cupboard when opened...well,enough of my questioning off you go now to enjoy those yummy looking biscuits ect...great job guys;)
ReplyDeleteButter lasts for a long time in the fridge. It wouldn't be based on the expiration date of the cream. You can also add a pinch of salt to your butter for added flavor. We're going to be making more biscuits today!!
ReplyDeleteHey Alissa
ReplyDeleteYou need your Mom to help with the butter
Love Dad
She'd probably still be grossed out huh!
ReplyDeleteActually....... the other day I buttered a pan using my fingers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How about that!!!!!!! Yep, I got my fingers right in the butter container.(washed of course) Yeah for me!!!
ReplyDeletePS.. And I washed them very very quickly and thoroughly after I was finished.*smile*
ReplyDeleteEvidentley you Americans have much,MUCH better product....lol....ofcourse it couldn't possibley be the one maiking it*smile*...Yep,you guessed it right our butter was NOT a success(long story) anyway I will be shopping around for some heavy cream and not that of our "Canadian version" of whipping cream.Regardless the experience was fun and the kiddoes did enjoy it ...........the rest is a mistery.*grin*...well,trust you guys are still enjoying the yumminess of such!Take good care;)
ReplyDeleteYou need to shake it for awhile!! It goes through different stages. I thought ours was a flop too at one point. It was just a whipped mess inside the container. Then it got really hard to shake it BUT if you keep at it all of the sudden the whipped mess inside starts to pull away from the sides and forms butter. The last 5 mins or so is the worst. It is like you are shaking but nothing is happening, the marbles don't move or anything. You have to REALLY whip the containers back and forth....then poof! It happens. Try again!!
ReplyDeleteThanks;)...we may just have to give it another try then.........maybe?!?!?!...lol...well,you know what they say,"Three stricks and your out"--guess I got two more shots at it then huh*grin*Take care guys and thanks for the update....
